Required Preparations:

Have a light dinner the night before the lithotripsy procedure.
The patient must fast for at least 6 hours before lithotripsy and should avoid consuming tea and breakfast (even biscuits) on the morning of the procedure.
Patients taking blood-thinning medications such as Aspirin, Warfarin, Plavix, Dipyridamole, Asacol, and similar drugs should discontinue them 5 days before lithotripsy under the supervision of their physician.
If you have any specific medical conditions such as heart disease, asthma, hypertension, diabetes, hemophilia, thalassemia, or any other illness, inform the lithotripsy department staff.
If you take medications for blood pressure, heart conditions, thyroid, diabetes, etc., continue taking them at the scheduled time with a small amount of water, except for blood-thinning medications.
Pregnant women must inform the lithotripsy department staff about their pregnancy.
If you have dentures, remove them before lithotripsy.
Patients with ureteral stones must bring a recent plain X-ray (black and white) taken within the last two or three days.
Patients with ureter and bladder stones should not empty their bladder.

Post-Discharge Instructions:

Drink plenty of fluids such as water, weak tea, and other beverages according to the patient's dietary restrictions for several days after lithotripsy.
Increase movement and physical activity as much as the patient's condition allows.
In case of pain, use pain medication every 8 hours.
If fever and chills, abnormal bleeding, severe pain that does not improve with pain medication, or urinary retention occurs, contact your physician or visit the hospital emergency department.
